At the love of God
Expressed in the story Divine by Karen Kingsbury – a true story if I ever heard one. A true story of the miracles of God and his true presence in the life of people that may not be real but represent a million, a billion, a trillion real ones.
Thank you, Lord. For this book. And for Karen Kingsbury. For redeeming her. And for showing me what you want to do through me, in me, what you have for me – the greatest adventure of all – this next year.
The main character of the book, Mary Madison, has been through unspeakable horrors, something like Mary Magdalene must have once gone through. And like Mary Magdalene, a real woman, and all the other woman in Christ’s story, she found the redeeming, renewing, releasing, reliving love of Christ. The only one that can set any of us free. That’s what I want to do. I want to introduce people to this love, the love of Christ. The love that sets us all free.
I am going to set up a home. A shelter. For anyone who needs it. Anyone who is beat, broken, damaged, unloved. Anyone who wants a place, who needs a loving context, somewhere to heal. I am overwhelmed. This work will be draining, but rich. Richer than anything else I could do and more fulfilling. I will wait with open arms for anyone who needs to come. And through me, Christ will show his love and the glory of a heart fully alive. Through me, He will show who He is and how He came to set people free. I am so excited. What better dream, thought, plan, could I have. I knew somehow, deep in my heart, ever since the Lord spoke to me during the Sepal retreat at the end of October, that he had something more for me than a secular job – something deeper, richer, fuller. “Rachel”, he asked me, “Will you do absolutely anything I ask?” Yes, Lord, yes I will. With joy, with pleasure. Because you are the only one who can and does set me free. Thank you, Jesus, for the privilege of serving you. For the privilege of being part of your plan. For the privilege of working in other people’s lives the way you work in mine.
And meanwhile… I can’t recommend this book highly enough to anyone who wants to find a new sense of purpose and fulfillment: Divine by Karen Kingsbury.
Love you all.
Rachel
P.S. If you want to join me in this work, through prayer, power, giving and grace, it will be more than welcome. I need all the help I can get.
P.S.S. It looks like I won’t be leaving Sepal anytime too soon after all.
Thank you for all your love and giving and all of you who have believed in me. In love and grace, Rachel
